Over the summer pop stars Nicki Minaj and Miley Cyrus took shots at one another afterNicki ranted about her "Anaconda" video not being nominated for "Video of the Year" at this year's MTV VMAs. Miley responded to the Queens rapper's tweets about cultural appropriation and said she's known to be "not too kind," which prompted Nicki to call her out during the awards ceremony in late August. A shocked Miley ended up blaming the media for editing her comments, but in the end Miss Minaj brushed it to the side - that is, until now.
During her latest interview with The New York Times, Nicki Minaj said she called Miley out because the former Disney star didn't fully understand where her anger was coming from. ''The fact that you feel upset about me speaking on something that affects Black women makes me feel like you have some big balls," Nicki began. "You're in videos with Black men, and you're bringing out Black women on your stages, but you don't want to know how Black women feel about something that's so important? Come on, you can't want the good without the bad. If you want to enjoy our culture and our lifestyle, bond with us, dance with us, have fun with us, twerk with us, rap with us, then you should also want to know what affects us, what is bothering us, what we feel is unfair to us. You shouldn't not want to know that.''
Nicki also claims when she went on stage to accept her award for "Best Hip Hop Video," Miley looked at her with disgust. ''I saw [Cyrus] just looking at me, with her face screwed up, and I thought, What the!,'" she told the interviewer.
