No More No Less: Album Review

The album starts off with organ lead, jumps in with crisp ticks, and a heavy piano synth. The words are strong the message is dark an vivid. No More no Less is what Block Syndicate Presents and with aggression.

The first song starts off with a camp of different rappers and different styles. It has a great flow as the beat stays common, and each rapper deliver a great impression to start off. It's almost like a cypher, with one topic and they all seem to channel the same aggression which keep the intro exciting. The next song "We On Roll" starts off good. Once the bass kicks in the excitement and energy kicks up even more. The first rapper has a really good flow that goes great with this type of beat. But, the alibs during his verse was all over the place. Which kind of threw the sound off as a listener. The chorus comes in and is not as strong as I would of hoped. The energy drops off a little as the rapper delivers a mid-tone voice and energy. The beat kind of over powered the vibe after that. The verses was well done, but the song never kept the energy it kicked off the song with. The production on the next song is crazy. "Bout the Team" I mean, its just a dope 90's throw back with heavy guitar to swim into the hypnotic drum pattern. But, as the chorus starts its just lack luster. The rapper didn't give enough energy as it was a little mundane to the experience. The verses once again provide a good feel, with well placed punchlines and catchy patterns. But the chorus lacks to capture once again. "Back it Up" has a different vibe. More of a radio club vibe, which is refreshing. The verses are sporadic and fun, which make them entertaining. The chorus is supported by the infamous "Autotune". Which is used well, but nothing really impressive. The song ends with a little stronger singing. Which is out of tune, and out of key. Although, the song personality kind of makes up for its mishaps. "Cashmere Dreams" kicks out with the smoothest melody so far. I mean as soon as the record starts its in slow motion. The voice and flow of the first rapper fits perfect and is very smooth. The production fits in great and with the other rappers as well, as this is seems to be there premiere sound. A really dope vibe and the different emotions from the rappers; topics, styles and verses are great. It has a Memphis 90's style rap. With a constant sample in the background bringing in a constant good feel. This record is just good rap and good music. "You A Lie" comes in and lets you coast out of Cashmere Dreams well. It has a similar vibe, and the style of production is once again a hit. The rappers do great and leave you impressed with how much they switch styles doing there verses. The first two rappers really shine on this song. The instrumental don't really change much as it kind of lose its vibe after the first two MC's. "Do it" Starts off and immediately gives you chills. This record and production is done so well it gives you goosebumps. The slow melody places you in a trance and it gets better as the rapper kicks in. They rap verses are real and about their life. And this is the best style for all the artist that's on the album. This song by far is a hit and is the record that spoke to us the most. This is where the rappers sounded and felt most comfortable as artist. One rapper raps, about a sexual encounter with a women which is off topic, with the other rappers. But, it still works as the chorus is open for fitting both. "Sweet Nothings" is a lighter tone song. Describing there relationship with the main girl. The chorus is song well, and has an infectious hook to it. But, the rap verses don't deliver the same interest as the chorus or production did. The production on the verse parts was very broken down and didn't really hold the artist voice well. As it was the weaker point of the song. "The Finale Song" kicks off strong. Good lyrics, corky punchlines and a heavier bassline. The beats gives you a certain bump, as the rappers transaction through verses well. A authentic street sound the packs a punch behind the lyrics and instrumentals. Some of the rappers fit and sound better on this song than others, but all deliver a style worth noting. This album starts off shaky but delivers a great vibe as the journey continues. Its gets better and more defined as the rappers open up more with life and lyrics. There styles don't flow perfectly together at all times but the diversity is refreshing. Everyone can have a favorite, artist on the album. The album left out key essentials and sometimes it felt sporadic and rushed. The presentation was given on two scales which one you feel is up to you.
